I have learned that change is inevitable and transformation is intentional — an ordinary person who decided to step boldly into life as an amputee. Whether speaking to medical or educational professionals, corporate leaders, faith-based groups or public sector officials, I customize my message as an authority on managing change through times of crisis or plenty.
I describe my experience with cancer as the narrow spot in an hourglass. Life is full of narrow spots - not all of them labeled cancer. They indicate change and represent the depth and intensity of our life experience.
Moving through life’s narrow spots is challenging and requires a balance of many things. It is in those very narrow spots that we find the possibility to discover the very best part of ourselves that can bring us transformation. We all have a well of resources with which to navigate life’s narrow spots. My message highlights the importance of paying attention and finding what you need to transform narrow spots into wisdom and joy - yes, joy. I seek to bring a renewed focus and sense of purpose to people before, during and after going through times of change.
